5 Family-Friendly Things To Do In and Around Bloomfield, NJ

Bloomfield is a great little town in Essex County, New Jersey

It is filled with excellent local places to eat, and family-friendly parks to explore. It’s also conveniently located next to Montclair, Belleville, and the Oranges. 

Here are five family-friendly things to do after your family photoshoot in and around Bloomfield, New Jersey. 

1. Explore Branch Brook Park – maybe you’re having your family photo session in the park. You’re already there, you might as well go exploring. The are several trails to walk, an expansive lake to fish, and a dog park for your furry friends. If you’re lucky enough to be at the park in the spring, be sure to check out the amazing cherry blossoms that can be found throughout the entire park.

2. Check out Brookdale Park – head to the north end of Bloomfield and explore Brookdale Park, the third largest park in Essex County. There is an amazing playground in the park, complete with slides, swings, and monkey bars that your kids will love!
   
3. Grab some ice cream at Holsten’s – when you’re all done exploring Brookdale park, take a short walk over to Holsten’s to enjoy some good old-fashioned ice cream. If dairy is not your thing, then enjoy some Italian ice at Rita’s instead.
   
4. Adventure at Turtle Back Zoo – it’s just a short drive from Bloomfield to West Orange. You can spend an afternoon exploring Turtle Back Zoo and all of the amazing animal exhibits. While you’re there, you can even hop on the zoo train for a ride around South Mountain Reservation. Check out the zoo around the Christmas holidays for their amazing Holiday Light Spectacular!
   
5. Visit Bloomfield’s Public Library – head over to the Bloomfield Public Library right on Broad Street. Check out their new books and see what new activities they have going on!
