Cherry Blossoms at Branch Brook Park

It’s that time of year again! The cherry blossoms at Branch Brook Park are in full bloom!
Branch Brook Park is located in the city of Newark and crosses through Bloomfield Ave, Park Ave, and Heller Parkway. Although the park is bustling with activity year-round, April is when it truly comes to life. As spring approaches and the cherry blossoms throughout the park bloom with gorgeous white and pink blossoms.
The park is home to close to 4,000 cherry blossom trees, so you can imagine how amazingly gorgeous the park looks when everything is in full bloom. Given the park’s notoriety for the annual cherry blossom festival which takes place in early April, it gets quite busy in the peak season. If your creative vision for your photoshoot involves frolicking among the cherry blossoms (and it should), I definitely recommend heading out to the park for an early morning photoshoot. There are fewer people at the park early in the morning, so you could potentially have an entire grove to yourself to capture all of the wonderful photos that you have in mind. If you decide to head to the park later in the afternoon or on a weekend (yikes), you could find yourself battling with crowds of people who are also trying to get pictures of the blossoms.
More than just trees!
In addition to the gorgeous cherry blossom trees, Branch Brook Park also features a sprawling 24-acre lake where you can fish for trout, numerous trails to walk or bike on, and the Prudential Grove for picnics. The park also offers a stunning view of the Cathedral Basilica of the Sacred Heart, which is a magnificent feat of architecture on its own.
The park also has extensive fields for various sports like soccer and cricket.
